Glenn Miller Orchestra?
[edit]Glenn Miller Orchestra ceased functioning in 1942, which was three years before Zavod was even born! His purported involvement with this band seems to take musical precocity to undreamt of extremes.
Is there an explanation? -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 04:26, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
- There was another band named after Miller which was organized years after his death and which is still active. Whether Zavod had anything to do with it is another question. It seems safe to suppose he did, as the authors of this article seem to know a lot about him (much, much more, in fact, than anyone can reasonably expect to find on Wikipedia). The date given for Allan Zavod's birth in 1945 is out by two years. I can claim special knowledge since I was married to Frances, a cousin of his father, Ed, for a little more than 61 years. I first met Ed on my birthday, June 26 of 1946 at the home of his intended, Ann Musat, and as far as I know they were not even engaged at that time. The day and month are probably correct, since I do recall that his birth was around the time of the Jewish High Holydays and that it was in 1947. That makes his age 69 and not 71. Wikipedia is not alone in being given this wrong information. My name is Monty Maizels and I knew Allan from when he was a baby to his high school days. —only occasionally when he was at the Conservatorium here. Unfortunately I saw nothing of him while he was overseas becoming famous. And, regrettably, not enough since he came back to live in Melbourne. His mother Ann is stlll alive and I saw her on Monday evening at a tribute concert given for Allan by Melbourne jazz friends. They did him proud.
